BMW has announced that selected versions of the BMW iX1 and BMW iX2 now qualify for the UK's full £3,750 Electric Car Grant, making BMW the first premium German manufacturer to secure the highest level of government support under the scheme.
Which BMW models qualify?
The following models are now eligible for the full Band 1 £3,750 grant:
-
BMW iX1 eDrive20 Sport
-
BMW iX1 xDrive30 xLine
-
BMW iX2 eDrive20 Sport
The grant is applied automatically, meaning there's no paperwork for customers to complete.
Electric Car Grant - Eligible EVS.
Premium electric driving, at a lower price
The introduction of the grant significantly reduces the entry price into BMW's electric SUV range.
BMW says the iX1 eDrive20 Sport is now available from £33,315 on the road, making it less expensive than an equivalent petrol-powered BMW X1 in comparable specification.
For drivers considering the move to electric, that makes the decision even easier.
Why have these models qualified?
The Government's Electric Car Grant isn't simply based on vehicle price.
Manufacturers must also demonstrate strong environmental credentials throughout the production process, including:
-
Lower-emission vehicle manufacturing
-
Responsible battery production
-
Verified sustainability targets
-
Reduced overall lifecycle emissions
BMW's holistic approach to sustainability has enabled the iX1 and iX2 to achieve the highest Band 1 rating available.
